As the sun sets, Batu Feringgi comes alive with a carnival-like atmosphere with an open-air bazaar selling anything from ornate curios to enticing souvenir items.
A little further south is Pangkor Island, with its charming mix of fishing settlements and resorts, is a fascinating and convenient holiday destination.
Pangkor's two popular beach areas of Pasir Bogak and Teluk Nipah offer sun and sea enthusiasts activities like scuba-diving, snorkelling, wind-surfing and fishing.
Off the east coast of Terengganu is Pulau Redang which offers crystal clear waters and numerous dive sites for the avid enthusiasts. Sheltered within the Pulau Redang Marine Park, the waters here are rich in marine life where at midday when the sun rays penetrate the sea, brilliant hues of coral, anemones and wide array of fishes can be seen.
The Tunku Abdul Rahman Park which is located in the Borneo part of Malaysia, comprises of a group of five islands located some 20 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu – the capital of the of Sabah.
The park is spread over 4,929 hectares, two thirds of which is the sea.
The five idyllic islands, Manukan, Mamutik, Sulug, Gaya and Sapi have soft white beaches and are teeming with fishes and corals, perfect for the beginner divers as well as for the snorkellers and picnickers. Gaya and Sapi Islands also have hiking trails through pristine jungle trek.
